Herd Improvement

Our main reason for establishing a Jersey x Holstein (J × H) crossbreed for our Lobatse Dairy is to establish an offspring calf with superior qualities to their parents like production, fertility and longevity. Crossbreeding is the most profitable breeding strategy and is about herd improvement not breed improvement.

We are fully adopting the Alliance Grazing Dairy model.

Heat Tolerance
 Longevity
Fertility
 High milk production potential
Increased milk production
efficiency
  Good Legs
Jersey-Holstein crossbreds  for grazing
We want to maximize milk production per cow
Cooling under pivot
We are striving for a smaller cow which eats less,
breeds better, has ease of calving,
less stillbirths and has less days to first service.
