PUBLIC NOTICE
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF THE PROPOSED DAIRY ON FARM NO. REMAINDER OF LOT 1 (BOSWELATLOU), LOBATSE

In fulfillment of Section 7 (2) of the EA Act of 2011, notice is hereby given for the intent to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the proposed dairy on Farm No. Remainder of Lot 1 (Boswelatlou Farm), Lobatse.

7) Public participation and scoping exercise
 (1) An applicant shall take all measures necessary to seek the views of the people or
communities which are likely to be affected by the activity.
 (2) In seeking the views of the people or communities in accordance with subsection (1)
the applicant shall-
 (a) publicise the intended activity, its effects and benefits in the mass media using the
official languages for a period of not less than 21 days; and
 (b) after the expiration of the period of 21 days, hold meetings with the affected people
or communities to explain the activity and its effects

The competent authority determined that the proposed activity is likely to have a significant adverse environmental impact,  and thus required that the dairy project undergo an environmental impact assessment or, the costs of which shall be borne by the developer." EIA Act, sec. 9(1)

"A person shall not practise as an Environmental Impact Assessment Practitioner unless such person is registered and certified under this Act." EIA Act, sec. 37. The Act establishes a Environmental Assessment Practitioners Board, which is responsible for "establishing criteria (education, professional experience, competency and continued professional development requirements) and procedures for registration of [EIA] practitioners. . . ."

The EIA Consultant
MilkAfric (Pty) Ltd  has contracted Mr Jones Loso Moemedi (University of Botswana, Master of Science - Environmental Science) as its SEAP Consultant for the Lobatse dairy project. Mr Moemedi is member of the Botswana Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association (BEAPA), practice number 20130048. BEAPA is a not-for-profit professional Association that was established through Section 20of the Environmental Assessment Act, No10 of 2011. The purpose of the Association is to register and certify the Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs) and to promote the sustainable management of the environment through the realisation of quality environmental assessment in Botswana.
